My name is Ben Fritz and I am a personal trainer and online coach. I specialize in coaching individuals to an improved physique through effective and sustainable exercise and nutrition protocols. I am a firm believer that health and fitness should not detract from your life, it should enhance it.

Background

I have been interested in fitness for as long as I can remember. I played sports all the time as a kid, got hooked on skateboarding and karate during my junior high years, and then turned my focus to football and lacrosse in high school. Going into high school, my dad taught me how to lift weights – I quickly fell in love. Resistance training has been a constant in my life ever since.

In 2010, I graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. After two years in a cubicle, it became quite clear that sitting at a desk from 9-5 was not for me. During those two years, I remained an avid gym-goer and began to research more and more about training and nutrition. As I learned, trained, and experimented with my own training and eating methods, I found myself seriously reconsidering my career choice. It was at this point that I knew I needed to make a change. I had a real passion for fitness and nutrition; I wanted to share this passion, to educate and to help others realize their own potential for a healthier, more enjoyable, more fulfilling lifestyle. Furthermore, I realized that I wanted a job that would make me happy and give me purpose. I decided to make a major life change and to devote all of my time to a career that I truly wanted. I became a certified personal trainer in 2012 — it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

One of my primary interests is nutrition and the effect it has on health, appearance, and performance. As nutrition has quickly become one of the most confusing and contradictory subjects in the health and fitness realm, I am continuously doing research to increase my knowledge and understanding of this vast topic and I enjoy working with others to simplify it. In addition to my time spent reading about nutrition, I have experimented with a variety of “diets” and eating methods. As with exercise, I enjoy trying to optimize my diet for my goals. The objective of my nutritional guidance is to allow an individual to cultivate a healthy relationship with food and to create a sustainable lifestyle.
